Part of a package of five bills in relation to the Australian shipping industry, the bill amends the
Shipping Registration Act 1981
to: establish the Australian International Shipping Register and the Australian General Register; and establish the administration of the international register by providing for: the application process for registration; employment conditions for seafarers; collective agreement negotiation processes; enforcement powers for the Australian Maritime Safety Authority; and a civil penalty and infringement notice regime.
